1. Tree Cavities

Cavities aren’t always obvious from looking at the leaves of trees, but a dead or decaying tree could have cavities in the trunk making it dangerous. We have experienced trees that at first glance looks healthy, but crumbling apart at the trunk. If you see a tree cavity, do not wait to call our team to help take care of it as it can become structurally dangerous.

2. Overgrowth

Tree overgrowth might not seem like a big deal at first sight, but it may be problematic to the overall health of your tree down the line. Tree overgrowth can weaken limbs and cause structural stress to the tree. It can also affect the amount of nutrients feeding the entire tree over all. An example is sunlight being unable to reach lower branches. When your trees are overgrown, you know it’s time to make a call to your local arborist.

3. Root Damage

Root damage may be an indication that your tree is undergoing stress at a vital level. Roots draw up nutrients from the soil for the tree. They also ground the tree and provide support. When you see root damage, you know it’s a sign to call a professional. Treatment or other action may need to be taken to help overcome the damage and prevent further, more expensive undertakings down the line.

4. Discolored Leaves

Discolored leaves are a sure sign that your trees may have a pest or fungi problem. Invasive species are not always obvious. Sometimes simple moss and fungi look natural on a tree, but when you see the leaves growing discolored, you know there is more going on with the overall health. Be sure to call Cutting Edge Tree Professionals, or your local arborist, for help. Trees may ‘flag’ in late summer or fall when they turn colors or defoliate loosing their leaves earlier than other trees. This can sometimes indicate issues.

The weather will be warming in the next couple of months, and some of these signs may become more obvious this coming spring season. Be on the lookout for your tree in advance. Know when it’s time to call Cutting Edge Tree Professionals and schedule your free estimate for tree care.
